Training program of Toastmasters International at VIT Campus

Soft skills have gained recognition as crucial skills to develop for the professional development and advancement. These behavioural skills cannot be taught, but developed only through continuous training and practice. Toastmasters International is a platform, which provides members to be better communicators and leaders and for this reason, it has gained popularity amongst the corporate employees and students alike. VIT Campus hosted the officers and Judges Training Program of Toastmasters International on 19 August. Clubs like TCS Maitree, TCS Rendezvous from Gurgaon; Silver Tongues from IIM Udaipur; VIT Toastmasters and SKIT Club from Jaipur were the participants of the training program. Area governor of toastmasters, Ms Parul Tyagi applauded the endeavour and appreciated the efforts of members towards self- development. Vice chancellor of VIT University, Prof Amitav Babi Mitra stressed the need to popularize Toastmasters for the benefit of the engineering students.














Area Level International Speech Contest and Table Topic Contest

VIT Campus hosted the Area Level International Speech Contest and Table Topic Contest on the 23 march 2012. All the winners of the member clubs of Area A-3 from Rajasthan and Gurgaon participated in it. Sudha Rathore of VIT Toastmasters bagged the first place.




Toastmaster Anubhav Kulshrestha was 2nd runner up at the area level International Speech Contest.





Demonstration meeting at UEM, Jaipur

The members of the VIT Toastmasters club have been activein helping other institutes and individuals to acomplish their dream of being great speakers and presenters. To this end, a group of eight members conducted a demostration meeting at the University of Engineering and Management, Jaipur on 5 March 2012.

Toastmasters International District Officer’s Training Program-District 41


Keeping in line with its vision of creating all round techno managers, VIT Campus regularly encourages its students and faculty to develop their communication and presentation skills. These skills are essential for enhancing their personal growth, employability and career prospects. Ms Parul Tyagi, faculty of Vivekananda Institute Of Technology and the past Vice President of VIT Toastmasters attended the two day district officials training program of toastmasters international as the AREA GOVERNOR of AREA J-3. The program was organised in Gurgaon on 7 and 8 of July. She will be responsible for opening and maintaining the Toastmasters club in state of Rajasthan. 

Intra-club International Speech Contest and Table Topic contest

VIT Toastmasters organised its intra-club International Speech Contest and Table Topic Contest on 10 march 2012. The minimum requirement for participation was that the member contestant should have finished at least six speeches from the CC manual. Five members participated in the contest and Toastmaster Sudha Rathore and Toastmaster Anubhav Kulshrestha emerged as the winner and qualified to participate in area level speech contest. In Table Topic Contest  Falguni Mittal and Rouble Singh were winners and they also qualified to participate in the area level contest.















VIT TOASTMASTERS



Under the aegis of Toastmasters International, USA Vivekananda Institute Of Technology,Jaipur charted the VIT Toastmasters club on 19 August 2011 with the aim of providing a platform to the students where they can sharpen their communication, presentation and leadership skills. The club has 20 charted members and holds its meeting on every Wednesday in the campus itself.

Its office bearers include:-

Toastmasters international has been the most influential organisation in personal and professional development of an individual. Being a  toastmaster makes a person more confident  more action oriented and better able to accomplish oneself. as a toastmaster we learn a system for speaking effectively.

THE MISSION:-

The mission of VIT Toastmaster is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual has an opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills which in turn foster self confidence and personal growth.

The motto of VIT campus is to create technocrats with multidimensional personalities including both the technical and personal grooming. To achieve this objective,joining hands with toastmasters international was yet another milestone and an achievement of its own type. VIT Campus got associated with Toastmasters International, formally in August in 2011.




VIT toastmasters strives to make members confident, effective and better prepared as a speaker. VIT Toastmasters provides a comfortable environment where learning is fun, where you communicate instead of talking,where you learn, but you are never taught. where self enhancement first begins deep within and then become evident on outside, where grooming is subtle as brooming, so gradule you can't point at it, yes so quickly that you won't realize when you actually become the new you.



The journey of VIT Toastmaster club began with the demo meeting conducted by area governor of District 41 Ms Sangeeta S. Bahl and a few members from Gurgaon Toastmasters Club on 8 August, 2011.

With the demo meeting the whole idea if Toastmaster Club appeared to be more interesting than it anticipated. The demo meeting was thereafter followed by one day training session conducted by the area governor, wherein the different officers of VIT Toastmasters were made aware of there respective duties. The VIT Toastmasters made an enthusiastic start with a total of 20 members(as per TMI guidelines).

Since, the establishment of VIT Toastmasters at VIT Campus, all the members have shown active participation and toastmasters meetings have become the part and parcel of their weekly schedule.

Club meetings are held every wednesday between 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm attended by all the 20 members and guest participating in the club communication and leadership program.



Every TM meeting follows a format divided into 3 segments:

  • word of the day
  • prepared speeches
  • table topic session
With every meeting at VIT Toastmasters,every member takes something new back home in the process of learning to be a good speaker, a good leader, a good listener and a communicator.


Within two months of being officially chartered, VIT Toastmasters, with its devoted efforts and active participation of the members conducted a club level Humorous Speech Contest on 29 September, 2011. The winner of the contest and the first runner up of this contest further participated in Area Level Humour Speech Contest.

A team of 6 members of VIT Toastmasters went to Gurgaon on 15 October, 2011 to participate in this area level contest held at corporate office of  QUATTERO.







The area contest was amongst the clubs of Area A of district 41. 




The VIT Toastmaster Ms Akriti Kedia brought laurels and stood as first runner up at area level.



The VIT Toastmasters was visited by area governor Ms Sangeeta S. Bahl on 19 October, 2011 and a guest member from Gurgaon toastmasters club Mr Shakeb Rao, who is also a winner of Area Level Humour Speech Contest.

After such an amazing progress OF VIT Toastmasters in such a small duration of its establishment the members of VIT Toastmasters also went to give a demo meeting at Jaipuria Institute of Management.




After winning the Area Level contest, VIT Toastmasters participated in the District Level Contest, held at yet another corporate office NCR, Gurgaon.


   
VIT Toastmasters has also been visited by a member of Singapore Toastmasters Mr Naveen Parwal on 2 November, 2011.

The club has also been doing so well and aims towards making VIT Toastmasters a distinguished clubs at Toastmasters International.

Moreover a large number of students have turned up to be a part of  this prestigious club, because it is the only club of one such kind wherein learning is so much fun along with that being a Toastmaster adds on to individual's achievements and gives them an upper hand in terms of personal achievements.

A two member team of VIT toastmasters participated in the national level debate competition organised by G.B. Pant University, Pant Nagar, on 14-15 January, 2012.

The club organised its "Moment of Truth" on the 25 of December to stop and look back at the performance of the club and do a analysis. The members got new insight on how they could perform better and make VIT Toastmasters Distinguished.


The executive committee of the club went to Gurgaon and attended an Officers Training Program and Judges Training Program on 5 February.
